Floating
down the river on a cushy tube is a great way to spend time on a summer day.
You're on the water, out in the sun and fresh air, and can enjoy beautiful
scenery … for example, on a New Braunfels river tubing excursion. Here are a
few tips to get you started:
1) Check
river conditions – one of the best ways to do this is with your local river
outfitter. They'll keep you up-to-date on the latest information.
2) Choose
your tube type – tubes are available in a range going from plastic tubes for
the calmest of rivers to tubes with integrated coolers, so do your homework to
get the one that best suits your plans for Guadalupe river tubing.
3) Valuables
stay home – you might want a waterproof camera and a dry bag with your cell
phone in case of emergency, but other than that, leave expensive items
someplace safe. You're not likely to find them once they've made their way to
the bottom of a river!
4) Life
vests – anyone who has difficulty floating or swimming short distances should
be wearing a vest, no ifs, ands, or buts. Kids should wear one even if they can
swim, and even strong swimmers should wear vests when river conditions warrant
it.
5) Pay
attention – watching the group ahead of you can give you a heads up for
obstacles or unsafe conditions. If you see groups getting out to walk with
their tubes, or notice that all tubers are going to a particular side of the
river, there's probably a reason for it.
River tubing
is a great day for families and friends, as long as you go about it the right
way!
